We must fight for social justice in our community. I will work to ensure that women, people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ folks, people of all immigration statuses, people of any or no religious affiliation, and every member of our community receive the respect, attention, and intentional action they need and deserve from our local government.
- We need to have policy and a dialogue that shows we value immigrants and refugees as equal members of our community and that we will never shut our doors to those in need of a home.
- I will encourage our County Government and law enforcement officials to implement policies that respect the rights of immigrants and do not break up families.
- I will advocate for an Athens Civil Rights Committee comprised of a diverse cross-section of residents who would serve to advocate, educate, and promote mutual respect and understanding, along with diversity and inclusion in our community.
